The Six Human Needs That We All Need!

Did you know that there are six human needs that drive all human behaviour?

I am a huge fan of Tony Robbins and the work that he does, he has helped thousands and thousands of people through his coaching and products and seminars.

Tony states that there are six human needs that drive all human behaviour, I would like to share these six human needs with you right now.

Certainty. We all want comfort of one sort or another, and much of this comfort comes in the form of certainty. Of course there is no ABSOLUTE certainty, but we want certainty in our lives, we want certainty the car will start, certainty that our currency will keeps its value, and certainty that our children and our spouses love us. These are just a few examples of the certainty that we all crave.

Variety. It is a bit of a paradox because as well as wanting certainty humans also desire variety. There needs to be just enough uncertainty to provide a spirit of adventure in our lives.

Significance. Deep down we ALL want to be important, we all want our lives to have meaning and significance. There can be no worse feeling than to think that your life does not matter.

Connection and Love. It would be hard to argue against the need for love. We all want to feel cared for and cared about, we want to feel part of a community. This can be reflected throughout the classes, whether it be upper class belonging to an exclusive club, whether it be middle class belonging to The Rotary club, or The Freemasons, down to the working class belonging to a working men's club or Motorcycle club or down to the teenagers who are so desperate for a sense of belonging that they join a street gang.

Growth. There will be some who say that they do not want to grow, I think they are simply scared to get out of their comfort zone, (which brings us nicely back to certainty) to become better individuals, to stretch our skills, to get out of our comfort zones is more evident in some than in others, but it is most definitely there. Humans are organic organisms, like plants, and trees and flowers, therefore if we are not growing then we are most certainly dying, little by little, and day by day, but dying nonetheless.

Contribution. The desire to contribute something of value, to help others, the power to make the world a better place than we found it is in all of us.

These six human needs are the driving force behind all human behaviour, if you can understand these six human needs and how they influence your actions then you will be able to live a more fulfilled life.
